Episode 50: Thoughts on new CIF-SS football coaching hires and SoCal Open Division basketball teams

In this week’s episode of the SBLive California Podcast, reporters Connor Morrissette, Lance Smith and Bodie DeSilva discuss the biggest stories of the week in Southern California high school sports.

Morrissette gives his takes on the new head football coaches in the Southern Section and his thoughts on which eight boys basketball teams will qualify for the Open Division in the Section. DeSilva then gives his eight teams for the boys basketball Open Division in San Diego and discusses what local baseball player has a shot at breaking the San Diego Section home run record. Smith discusses Open Division girls basketball in the Southern Section.

The show finishes with Morrissette previewing Saturday's massive Division 1 girls soccer semifinal in the Southern Section between Santiago and Harvard-Westlake. The trio then give a tribute to legendary SoCal softball writer Carlos Arias who passed away this week.
